Can a man be forced to
take a DNA test to
determine paternity?

No. A man can refuse to have a DNA test. However a Family Court Judge can take his refusal into account when they make their decision about whether or not to grant a Paternity Order.

The Family Court may consider he is refusing because he is likely to be the father of the child, and he does not want legal proof of this. The Family Court can make a Paternity Order even if the alleged father refuses to take a DNA test, if other evidence suggests that he is likely to be the father.
