How do I apply for legal aid for Family Court proceedings?

Your lawyer can provide you with an application form and help you to apply for legal aid.  You will need to provide written confirmation of your income; a recent pay slip or letter from your employer or WINZ (if you are receiving a benefit).

You can also gain an application form for legal aid from your local court or citizen's advice bureau, or a legal aid application form can be downloaded from the Ministry of Justice website. There is a specific form for applying for legal aid for Family Court proceedings.
