Legal aid is not always free. Your income and assets will be assessed in your application for legal aid and you may be required to repay all or part of the costs of your legal fees.*

*Applicants in domestic violence proceedings (ie. protection orders) are not required to repay their legal aid for domestic violence proceedings.
