What is a Domestic
Relationship?
In order to apply for a protection order the applicant must be in a "domestic relationship" with the perpetrator of domestic violence. Persons with whom you have a "domestic relationship" include:
- A spouse or partner; or
- A family member; or
- A person ordinarily sharing your household with you; or
- A person with whom you have a close personal relationship.
Relationships that are not in themselves considered domestic relationships include:
- Employers and employees
- Neighbours.
